The Xilinx Aerospace and Defense (A&D) vertical marketing team, which is responsible for Xilinx A&D revenue, profitability and the development of Xilinx’s A&D leadership strategy and market penetration, is seeking a Military and Satellite Communications (MILCOM / Satcom) System Architect.  This vertical marketing team is also responsible for product and solutions (including IP, software and development boards) planning for the A&D market, ecosystem partner development and management, and market strategies.  This organization is also responsible for managing long-term strategic MILCOM / Satcom customer relationships and continued profitable growth within the MILCOM and Satcom industry.

The 
MILCOM / Satcom System Architect will report to the A&D Vertical Market’s Director. The role is focused on Xilinx Aerospace and Defense system architecture activities for Military and/or Satellite Communications, which includes defining system architectures for military wired and wireless communications systems (including MilSatcom), as well as commercial satellite systems (ComSatcom), based on Xilinx current and future adaptive products, including FPGAs, SoCs and ACAPs.   This role entails identifying industry technical trends, defining use cases for future Xilinx products, architecting whole system product solutions including silicon devices, boards, IP, reference designs, drivers, and software, and assisting in business development and selling activities to win business in the Military and Satellite Communications space.

Responsibilities associated with architecting these solutions will include working with our elite sales team to identify and prioritize customer engagements, presenting advanced roadmaps to the Xilinx customers and their customers and industry influencers, and help provide architecture technical support needed by these customers. Individual is also responsible for developing presentations, marketing messaging and collateral along with other enabling tools to drive business in this segment.

The role includes working across several corporate organizational boundaries, including sales, field and technical applications, product planning, product marketing and software engineering.  The role is crucial for the Xilinx A&D business in ensuring our next generation products are quickly and effectively adopted by our Military and Satellite Communications customers and that A&D product roadmap supports the continued technical advancement of our products to support winning business in Military and Satellite Communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide MILCOM / Satcom technical expertise for wired and wireless systems architecture, and applications, to sales teams calling on Military & Satellite Communication customers    
  • Work closely with Xilinx engineering and operations to define and specify future Xilinx MILCOM / Satcom products and manage rollout
  • Identify and characterize, thorough technical analysis, specific Xilinx value propositions that can positively differentiate Xilinx products from other (e.g. ASSP, FPGA, ASIC, GPU) products in the target MILCOM / Satcom applications. Work collaboratively with sales and marketing to communicate and exploit identified value propositions.
  • Prioritize and guide strategic A&D MILCOM / Satcom segment partners through the definition and development of targeted products and solutions (devices, , IP, software, reference designs, and design platforms) aligned with customer and market challenges that will enhance the overall value proposition of Xilinx products and increase Xilinx product penetration over alternatives.
  • Monitor and manage progress at partners where MILCOM / Satcom solutions funding is invested to subsidize development toward customers’ needs and goals.
  • Develop and maintain key technical relationships with strategic MILCOM / Satcom customers to complement existing or developing sales and marketing relationships. Leverage these relationships to identify customer challenges, needs and be able to influence customer architectures and roadmaps in favor of Xilinx.
  • Develop and communicate MILCOM / Satcom market requirements relevant to future Xilinx products, specifically for mixed signal applications, such as Xilinx’s RFSoC portfolio.
  • Provide insight on the MILCOM / Satcom market and customer trends, needs, challenges, and segmentation.
  • Individual is also responsible for developing presentations, marketing messaging and collateral along with other enabling tools to drive business in this segment.
  • Provide MILCOM / Satcom strategic input into the A&D business plan and demonstrate ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and lead through influence.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or similar technical field.
  • 10+ years’ experience working at a company working directly with Military and/or Satcom communications products / systems.
  • Technical expertise in the application of semiconductor device technology with a working knowledge of embedded processing systems. Familiarity with the application of programmable logic (FPGA) technology is desirable.
  • Knowledge of MILCOM / Satcom electronics market, trends, applications and system architectures required.
  • RF/IF, Mixed Signal experience, DoD Acquisition Cycle or familiarity, is desirable.
  • Knowledge of high-level system security principles and requirements, such as Anti-tamper (AT), Information Assurance (IA), Trust and Zero Trust is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning market, technological and business trends, software ecosystem, and emerging applications is beneficial.
  • Expertise and/or familiarity with Communications/Digital Signal Processing and associated SW development languages and tools, such as C/C++, MATLAB, GNU Radio and/or Xilinx development environments is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation) & Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in highly cross-functional and geographically dispersed organization.
  • Must be a strong team player and very self-motivated individual.
  • US Citizenship required, must be able to qualify for a SECRET level clearance.
  • Job location can be remote
  • Travel required (~25% North America, ~5-10% International)
