This is an exciting time to be part of the Technical Documentation and Localization team at Xilinx as we work to transform the user experience of technical documentation for our customers. Candidate must have strong editorial and organizational skills to ensure documentation produced complies with Xilinx and departmental standards and technical English guidelines. Ability to quickly understand and use Xilinx tools as required. Successful candidates will be independent, collaborative, motivated, and focused on both user experience and technical documentation processes.

Job Requirements:  

• Seeking a technical writer experienced in generating hardware technical specifications. Strong time and project management skills and the ability to work under pressure. Must be passionate about information structure, content, and delivery.
• Ability to collaborate closely with our architecture team to produce accurate and robust technical specifications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering to produce high quality, customer facing technical documentation.
• Ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in hardware technical documentation in a similar environment. Candidate must have FrameMaker and Acrobat skills. DITA, Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint skills a plus.

Experience/Education
Required:

• Five years or more of technical writing experience in a high tech field
• Experience working directly with engineering teams
• Experience following multiple style/writing guidelines
• BSc in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science

Desired:

• Networking hardware technical background/experience
• Other relevant technical background/experience

Skills
Required:

• Strong Technical English writing and editorial skills
• Strong verbal/written communication with global teams
• Strong organizational skills: project management and status reporting
• Background in hardware documentation

Desired:

• Relevant technical background/experience
• Experience with DITA or other XML-based authoring/publication system
• FrameMaker and Acrobat experience
