Exploring Complete CV/ML Vision Pipelines on Xilinx Devices
Xilinx Research Labs continuously explores new FPGA architectures and environments to address the future processing needs of several application domains. The heterogeneity of Xilinx' devices make them uniquely suited to accelerate the whole application. In this context, we are currently exploring novel combinations of machine learning algorithms and more traditional video or CV algorithms and we are evaluating design approaches to maximize the implementation efficiency of these hybrid solutions.
For this R&D activity, we are offering an intern job position focusing on the mapping these advanced image/vision processing and machine learning components on current FPGA devices using current or prototype tools and libraries.
Responsibilities include: identifying novel combinations of traditional signal processing and machine learning, training these hybrid solutions. Alternatively, for a more traditional video/processing and machine learning pipeline, identify implementation limitations and propose generic solutions to improve the applicability and usability of Xilinx devices and tools for image/vision processing and machine learning. Further, the position includes early prototyping, participating at group meetings and providing technical progress overviews through reports or presentations.
- Contribute to machine learning and computer vision or video integration: propose and train unique pipelines
- Propose new hardware feature requests for future Xilinx devices based on a focused application analysis
- Map working prototypes of whole vision pipelines on current Xilinx devices or simulate on future architectures.

- Exceptional MSc / PhD student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with C/C++, Python programming is a plus.
- Basic computer architecture understanding.
- Video/OpenCV and/or machine learning experience.
- Good communication, teamwork & problem solving skills.
