Xilinx Inc., is seeking a Development Operations (DevOps) Support Engineer to work in the DevOps Infrastructure team supporting the Software and IP Division. 
The DevOps Infrastructure team's primary objective is to provide a best-in-class development environment promoting high-productivity to over 1000 engineers across multiple sites worldwide. 


DevOps Infrastructure Support Engineer 

  • Direct support for both internal and 3rd party tools to internal Software and IP engineering teams. This includes improving and developing processes and best practices, maintaining documentation of the development environments. 

  • Collaborate with organizational team members to plan and implement scalable solutions for the Software and IP build and test environments. This includes storage and compute technologies, design and build automation, and identify problems and appropriate solutions for infrastructure. 

  • Administration, support, and troubleshooting of production applications including: source code management systems, documentation and collaboration tools, environment configuration systems, and metric and logging database stacks, shared network storage, and global networks.  

  • Implementing infrastructure automation, metric collection, and actionable reporting to make data driven decisions. 

  • Direct support for both internal and 3rd-party tools used by internal Software and IP engineering teams. This includes improving and developing processes and best practices, maintaining documentation of the development environments. 

    The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Experience in writing and debugging Python and Shell programming to perform system, application, and workflow automation.  

  • Intermediate experience with Linux and Windows from a command line interface and automation perspective.   

  • Able to support production applications both on premise and cloud . 

  • Proactively engage users to address issues and identify and implement long term solutions to prevent repeat scenarios.  

  • Participate in and lead the planning and execution of small to medium complexity projects independently and with others to achieve goals and milestones. 


Qualifications


Education / Experience

  • BS with 5+ years of experience or MS 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related equivalent.
  • Will also accept Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered 

Job Skills/Requirements 


Must have work experience and project background experience in the following: 

  • Ability to balance support related tasks and participate in driving projects to completion

  • Python and Bash programming an scripting 

  • Linux and Windows Operating System fundamentals / Command Line Interface 

  • Experience administering and troubleshooting production containerized applications 

  • Configuration management systems for system and application level settings 

  • Modern monitoring, metrics, and alerting using open source tools 

  • Desired Skills

  • Project planning and management of infrastructure related projects  

  • Disaster recovery and backup and restore methodologies 

  • Atlassian Confluence and Jira 

  • Kubernetes, Helm, Harbor experience 

  • LSF job management
