Provide pre and post sales technical support on design tools, silicon and IP to Xilinx FAEs and customers by means of software, system and module level design evaluations and issue resolution. Occasional customer visits and informal training. Travel to customer sites to work with them side by side as the Xilinx expert. Provide feedback to various product development teams to help define future product enhancements and evolution including IP cores, device architectures and software tools. Provide detailed insight into Xilinx technology and its deployment following established design methodologies.

 

Must be able to complete the following with minimal guidance:

  • Debug customer designs and identify software and/or hardware issues through simulation, emulation and on-site analysis of typical FPGA/SOC design issues
  • Design, develop, code and test reference designs or macros for strategic customer designs
  • Review, optimise and debug customer code
  • Convert existing designs to Xilinx
  • Become the regional subject matter expert on a chosen application, software tool flow or hard IP module
  • Support customers to achieve timing closure
  • Support customer project design reviews
  • Develop, recommend and support customer design methodologies
  • Provide technical assistance to help achieve FAE design win targets
  • Work with 3rd party ecosystem providers to support mutual customers
  • Engage in customer solution proposals (architectural recommendations, RFI, RFQ responses)
  • Work with product development teams to provide feedback and suggestions including the filing of change requests for documentation and software etc.
  • Develop support strategies for new product introductions
  • Provide technical input for marketing shows, seminars and conferences
  • Attend product training events and other technical training classes or courses
  • Author application notes, magazine articles and white papers



Experience:

  • Proficient knowledge of VHDL/Verilog coding, synthesis (Vivado/Quartus/Synplicity etc), and simulation (MTI, VCS, NC-Verilog etc)
  • Proficiency in lab and system debug utilising common test equipment
  • Proficiency in PLD/FPGA/SOC design and understanding of architectures
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, verbal and written, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and track activities
  • Service and results orientated with strong desire to support customers as well as an extension of a dynamic sales team
  • Proficient use of MS Office programmes (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc) is required
  • Knowledge of Xilinx specific design experience including demonstrable proficiency with Xilinx design methodology and implementation tools

Additional beneficial experience:

  • Knowledge of Processor Architecture and design for both hardware and software
  • Experience of ARM processor architectures and tools
  • Embedded experience with programming experience in C/C++/ OpenCL/ OpenGL
  • Knowledge of OS coding techniques, protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
  • Knowledge of Linux, code development and scripting
  • Familiarity with 3rd party OS, compilers, profilers, emulators and debuggers
  • Knowledge of RF data convertors, including sampling theory, simulation and layout
  • Analogue PCB design experience (IBIS/ HSpice simulation)
  • Power distribution system (bypassing)

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Science
