The Buyer, Indirect Purchasing & M&A reports to the Senior Commodity Manager, Global Indirect Purchasing and is responsible for working across business units and various support groups to manage projects related to improving the procurement process.
Maintaining responsibility for a small number of standard procurement deals:
Coordination with business owner in developing Statements of Work (SOWs)
Preparation and administration of Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quote (RFQ), and Requests for Proposal (RFP)
Analysis of supplier responses, quotes, and legal agreements
Leading and facilitation of supplier selection, pricing negotiations, contract negotiations, interaction with both parties’ Legal representation and other departments as appropriate and obtaining organizational buy-in
Managing the purchasing process from beginning to end
Managing and leading projects related to improving the procurement process including:
Pre & post M&A activities including:
Communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders
Planning integration activities and executing in partnership with team members
Identify challenges and drive solutions to ensure a successful integration
Documenting best practices for future M&A activities
Evaluating and implementing business process improvement activities
Deal and Contract Negotiations
Maintains negotiation preparations by defining alternatives to a negotiated agreement
Able to outline the main opportunities for negotiation and identify business risks and appropriate mitigations
Manages cost roadmap data, spend and saving summary calculation
Has a strong understanding of the key elements involved in establishing a comprehensive sourcing strategy
Proposes solutions for procurement deals
Identifies and implements procurement process improvement projects, savings management, and reporting
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work.
- BA/BS degree in Management, Engineering, Operations, or Finance is preferred
- Have experience selecting and managing suppliers, including negotiating price, risk management, and contract management
- APICS / ISM desired
- Strong MS Office skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills a must
- Strong interpersonal skills (both internal and external)
- Project management experience, PMP preferred
