EHS Manager


Xilinx has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to be located in our European HQ in Dublin. Our Global EHS Team is in need of an accomplished Health & Safety professional to support our existing and growing environmental, health and safety practice for the EMEA region along with supporting our Global Operations team on site-specific projects.



The Role


The Xilinx EHS Manager’s role for the EMEA region is to:



  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines. Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety. Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Ensure the health and safety of Xilinx employees by anticipating and controlling hazardous working conditions before injury or illness occurs.
  • Comply with government agency regulations in the locations where we conduct business and to meet the overall Corporate EHS compliance objectives and customer driven EHS requirements.
  • The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.         

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • EHS Manager for region; single point of contact for multiple sites
  • Work with Quality Dept on Customer EHS Surveys/questionnaires
  • Business Continuity Program support member on implementing programs
  • Conducting annual Emergency Response team drills.
  • Develop and conduct EHS Training for specific teams during New Hire orientation, Chemical Use, Ergonomic Program, Manual Handling, Service Providers, etc.
  • Ensure the Emergency Response Team (ERT)/Crisis Management Team (CMT)/First Aid teams are trained to fulfill the duties.
  • Manage the site’s permitting system to ensure safe systems of work are employed
  • Liaise with the Facilities Manager to establish contractor health & safety procedures.
  • Develop and implement relevant EHS programs to ensure compliance with national and local regulations and company standards
    • Investigates and meets the prescriptive regulations for all EMEA sites with diligent oversight
    • Attend such courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organization
  • Identify future EHS improvements, provide guidance and hands-on support to the regional business units in order to drive, manage, and set accountability for safety and environment
    • Maintain a comprehensive Risk Assessment Program, identify potential Occupational H&S risks
    • Conduct all “risk assessments” as required by legislation and ensure they are reviewed at relevant intervals and maintain records of the same
    • Establish a comprehensive Environmental Aspects & Impact Program that anticipates the effects on the environment from our operational activities
  • Facilitate process and provide support in industrial hygiene sampling, fire drills and energy conservation audits to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead in organizing the annual Earth Day events for the region
  • Lead contact and communicator with cross functional teams for EHS topics
  • Promote and deliver programs to reduce the site’s environmental footprint, e.g. increase waste recycling, promote energy reduction, etc.
  • Ensure that Occupational Monitoring programs (e.g. chemicals, noise, dust, VDU assessments, ergonomic assessments, etc.) are defined and completed
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental incidents are promptly investigated, and effective preventative measures are identified and implemented


 

Required Qualifications

  • Permitting, reporting, and regulation interpretation, implementing EHS programs

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Health and Safety area discipline

  • Formal EHS Qualification, minimum degree level

  • Member of a recognized professional safety and health organization e.g. IOSH

Knowledge/experience in several of the following areas:

  • Health and safety, including training

  • HSA programs

  • EPA, WEEE, Reach, RoHS

  • Permitting (air, hazardous waste, hazardous material)

  • Environmental, health and safety auditing

  • Management system implementation/support (ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 / TL 9000, etc.)

  • Risk management assessments

  • Environmental compliance reporting (including CDP)
