Responsibilities: 

  • Continue Yocto maintenance
    • Making sure that the open source embedded Linux we are using for PetaLinux is optimized for Xilinx devices
  • Investigate how open source SW would work for proposed future PS architectures
    • For example: The extended PS is proposed to have 2 separate cache clusters with 4 processors each. How will Linux/Xen/etc. work on that.
  • Simplify Linux deployment
    • What can we do in open source and our processes to be able to use a common Linux kernel for different boards and PL configurations
  • Open source modification for High-speed trace
    • In Everest we will have an HSDP block for advanced debug. How can we modify the Linux kernel and other SW to take advantage of that.
  • Customer ease-of-use
    • How can we change our products to make it easier for our customers to deploy Linux and other open source technologies
    • In particular, how can we make it easier for customers to go directly to the open source projects and be successful on Xilinx HW

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related equivalent
  • 15+ years of experience

  • Demonstrated experience solving customer problems through innovative enhancements to architectures and tools

  • Proven ability to anticipate industry trends and drive consistent roadmap decisions
  • Experience meeting with customers to validate feature choices
  • Has extensive experience with open source development
    • Maintainer of open source projects relevant to embedded system software
    • Deep Linux experience
  • Has deep knowledge of multiple runtime environments
    • Including multiple operating systems, including Linux and RTOSes
    • Heterogeneous multicore/multi-OS environments (AMP)
  • Understands tools-runtime interactions
    • Including build tools, debuggers and trace
