The Global Corporate Compliance department of Xilinx is looking for a motivated and talented law student to work on its privacy program. You will have the opportunity to work in one of the newest and sought-after areas of law. In addition to learning about European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in great detail, you will be challenged to apply your knowledge for resolving practical issues and streamlining operations of a new privacy program.
Review and understand global privacy laws and frameworks, especially the GDPR.
Review documentation, processes, policies, and business practices to assess readiness and identify significant privacy compliance gaps for various business practices.
Work with the privacy team to help business teams comply with applicable privacy laws.
Research novel issues of law and review the latest guidance from EU regulatory authorities to advise business teams, especially marketing, on new business practices and modifying existing practices to comply with applicable privacy laws.
Work on operational aspects of running a privacy program efficiently and effectively. This involves reviewing existing and creating new policies, plans, and standard operating procedures, and auditing business practices for compliance with adopted standards.
Implement tools and solutions to respond to data subject requests, manage security incidents and breach notifications, and maintain records of processing activities.
2L or 3L law student pursuing a law degree at an accredited university with excellent GPA.
Strong interest and relevant coursework in privacy law.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good judgment, professionalism, and discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
Strong critical thinking and analytical ability.
Good grasp of web related technologies including tracking tools and advertisement platforms.
Prior experience with operations and organizational processes strongly preferred.
Good understanding of data security and related technology preferred.
